Once again, I am excited to say I am featuring an erotic artist today! While I knew of many amazing erotic artists from the days of Tumblr (RIP), one always stood out to me. Known to many as KappaX, he has been someone that I have become a personal supporter of via his Patreon. So you know I was excited to hear he was open to interviewing for Muscle Service. Not only that but excited to hear he was a reader of Muscle Service and appreciative of the website!

From learning that French artist KappaX started off drawing pin-up women, kicking off his internet fan base due to the help of Phausto, to finding another Caesar-loving admirer, it's all covered in our conversation with the one and only Kappa X!

Eddie V: As with each artist, I am always curious to know where your choice of the name came from. Tell us, where does your artist name KappaX come from?

KappaX: I wanted a simple and short artist name. But unfortunately, I'm not very good at this. At first, I thought about “kappa”, a monster from Japanese folklore. But it was more a joke than anything else. But finally, it became my artist name. I added the “X” so that it would be clear what I was doing.

Eddie V: Tell us how you came to practice creating such hot work. Where did the interest start to want to start creating homoerotic art?

KappaX: I started homoerotic art in 2016. Before that date, I was doing something else entirely. My art was focused on… women! I rarely drew men. I was known by my friends and family as “the guy who draws pin-ups”. But I had a big break and a big questioning of my work. As a challenge, I had the desire to make a 360° turn and to draw something totally different. That's how I started with my first NSFW illustration: Flynn Rider giving Aladdin a treat. It was mostly a way for me to experiment with new things and pervert my favorite childhood characters, haha!

Eddie V: Most of your art is about muscular Disney characters (which we clearly love) getting fucked, sucked, or getting their pecs and nipples worshipped! So, were sexy Disney characters the first ones you created?

KappaX: Yes, absolutely. As I said before, my first illustration was Aladdin being sucked off by Flynn Rider. That was the beginning of a long series of characters from the Disney universe (Hercules, Prince Eric, Prince Philip, Kristoff, Gaston, Simba, Bambi, etc.). Aladdin and Flynn Rider were also the protagonists of my first NSFW comic book “Thieves”. I always like to go back to the Disney universe to make new illustrations. It's always a kind of return to the roots.

Eddie V: I love the angle of creating gay art around superheroes and Disney characters, and I think you’ve done it so well. You’re recognized as being one the most known creators of gay Disney art. Tell us about that journey.

KappaX: Oh thank you, that's very kind. Like many other artists, I have a special relationship with the Disney universe. That's what pushed me very quickly to try to draw my favorite Disney princes in erotic situations. I was also very influenced by precursor artists such as David Kawena, Frenchie, and Phausto.

Eddie V: Who are some of your favorite bodybuilders, athletes, and/or pornstars? Have any inspired any characters in your designs?

KappaX: I could talk about it for hours, haha! Since I draw mainly muscular bodies, I need a big reference base to be as credible as possible. So, I discover new athletes, models or pornographic actors almost every week. It's a real treat for the eyes.

I remember that the first gay porn video I watched was with the actor Caesar. It was a huge crush. After that, I loved porn actors like Matthew Rush, Roman Heart, Mark Dalton, Chip Nicolas, Colby Keller, and many others. I have an almost endless list of names!

Eddie V: What is your favorite fantasy that you have drawn to date? Favorite pic?

KappaX: It is impossible for me to choose. But I do remember some projects that stood out for me. My first pornographic comic “Thieves” with the characters of Aladdin and Flynn Rider for example. It was a little challenging for me at the time. I remember posting the pages on my Tumblr and waiting feverishly for people's feedback. In my eyes, this comic has aged considerably but I still have a special fondness for it. I'm often asked to do a sequel to this story. I have the script and the storyboard. Maybe one day. I hope so.

I was also very pleasantly surprised by the positive feedback on one of my illustrations featuring scouts. I thought they were just two average characters, but I saw that the public liked them. So I tried to imagine their sexual adventures in little pages of comics. So I gave them names: Garret Woodhouse and Teo River. And I tried to imagine their sexual adventures in little pages of comics.  I wish to continue their adventures because the public seems to ask for more!

Otherwise, my current comic “Tavern Gold” is very close to my heart because it features one of my OC's “Tarm Thundercock”, a half-orc bodybuilder doing a pornographic show in a tavern. This is a little preview of a series of future stories I'm doing with my writer and friend IceCladShade featuring heroic fantasy characters and their sexual adventures.

Each new comic project is for me a real pleasure but also a challenge because I always want to do better and to be able to offer the best of my art to my readers.

Eddie V: When did you start finding out you had fans following your artwork? Any messages from fans that have stood out to you?

KappaX: When I started my Tumblr, I had no visibility. I was drowning in the ocean of the internet and I didn't know how to reach the public. The person who helped me get my foot in the door was Phausto. I can't thank him enough for his kindness and enthusiasm. When I was just starting out, I took the liberty of contacting him to tell him how much I had appreciated his work for a very long time and to tell him that he had pushed me to get into erotic illustration. He immediately shared my work on his Tumblr. That's what got me seen by the public and developed my fan base.

I read absolutely every message and comment I receive and try to respond as much as possible. Even if I sometimes lack eloquence and just answer a simple “thank you”, know that your message warms my heart.

Eddie V: We are all about supporting each other here in similar interests. Any other artists you love to follow?

KappaX: I try to follow as many artists as possible because I'm always eager to discover new talents. Here's one I'm an absolute fan of and whose work I particularly like :

Phausto, Anhes, Kupo Klein, Mr X-Toon, BoboComics, Schizoid, GhostGoCensorME, Chicobo, Gasaiv, Silverjow, Icemanblue, JoNSFW, Aleron, and so many others!

Eddie V: How often do you produce new content?

KappaX: I have been producing content for 5 years. I opened my Patreon, a year and a half ago, which allowed me to regularize my production. I publish on average 4 to 5 illustrations (with several variations) and 2 pages of comics per month. I also release my content on my social networks sometime after their publication on Patreon.

Eddie V: Is there a project you’ve been working on you cannot wait to complete? (Full comic, new characters, etc.?) What is new for 2021?

KappaX: I have several comics projects in the works that I hope to complete soon and many more ideas to work on with my writer IceCladShade.

I would love to get into animation projects. I've already done some small projects. But I want to dive into this medium and try more ambitious things.

And I still have in mind to make my website so that the public can see all my work already published on my various social networks. As pornographic artists are not safe from a new witch hunt, I prefer to be careful. In short, a lot of things to come!

Eddie V: Where can people follow and reach you? Do you accept commissions for your artwork and how much would that be?

KappaX: You can find me on my Patreon (KappaX) to get my new content in advance. You can also find me on Twitter (@KappaX_art) and Instagram (kappax_drawings) to keep up with my news and on Y!gallery (kappax) and Furaffinity (kappaxart) to check out my art.

Yes, I am sometimes open to commissions, for illustrations or comic pages. My prices vary between 30€ and 200€ on average.
